Clear the Work Area
Before the crew arrives, remove objects, garden furniture and decorations from the work zone. Identify and protect elements you want to keep (trees, shrubs, fences). Tell the workers which zones or items matter most.
Check for Underground Utilities
Call Info-Excavation (1-800-663-9228) before any excavation work. It's free and mandatory. They will mark the location of cables, pipes and underground conduits.
Talk to Your Neighbors
Let neighbors know about the upcoming work. A good landscaper minimizes disruption, but excavation does generate noise and some dust.
Prepare Access
Make sure the crew can easily reach the yard with the necessary equipment. Clear the driveway entrance and side accesses.
Water: Your Contribution
For sod installation, you'll need to water generously in the days after the install. Make sure your hoses reach the whole work area. If your project also includes a paver patio, plan a water source nearby — useful both for polymeric sand activation and lawn watering.
